Covent Garden Flower Festival 2000

Placed at the entrance to Covent Garden Piazza during the Covent Garden Flower festival 2000, Gnome was a  4.5 metre high statue covered in living grass. Gnomes are widely regarded as guardians of the earth. It proved to be a popular tourist attraction. Gnome was commissioned by  Lee Valley Regional Park Authority to draw attention to the regeneration of an old MOD site into a new park, Gunpowder Park. Gnome retired to Hayes Hill Children’s Farm.
